All of you who have boys will understand these pics. Thursday Aiden was riding scooters with kids in the neighborhood and face planted off his scooter. This is the result. At first I wasn't worried. He's fallen before. So I got him all cleaned up, then he says "Mom, how did my face get hurt? I don't remember." That's when I started to freak out a bit! So I dropped Owen off at my MIL's. And took Aiden to Kidscare. Luckily he only had 'mild' concussion. And just had to rest for a couple days. He missed out on his soccer game yesterday which he was REALLY bummed about. And the funny thing is, that this is probably only the beginning of these kind of things. With 2 boys I know I will be dealing with A LOT of broken bones, scrapes, bruises, sprains, concussions, stitches, etc, etc, etc. Heck, Aiden broke his arm at 9 months old! I knew this kid was going to give us a run for our money from the start! But his battle wounds look pretty awesome, right?!?!

So today my mother was informed that after 20 years of being on disability social security she is no longer eligible. WTF!?!?! Below is a link to my brother's blog. Please read it. Share it, email it, spread the word that this can't happen to her. That disability money is her ONLY income. For those of you who don't know, my mom had an aneurysm when I was 8 years old. Her right arm is paralyzed, her speech is impaired and she can't read anymore. But apparently the government thinks she can go out and get a job! Stupid morons. Please help my mom. She is a wonderful lady who doesn't deserve this crap!

Uncle Pat

My Uncle Pat (middle) went into respiratory failure earlier this week. Complications during kidney stone surgery. It took the Doctors almost 25 minutes to revive him. Since then he has been on a ventilator. His family has chosen to take out his ventilator and let him be at peace. My family is having a VERY hard dealing with this. My Dad (left) is the oldest of 4 boys. It goes my Dad, Pat, Scott (deceased), and Kelly (right). My Dad can not fathom losing another brother. He and Grandma both feel that they should've gone first. I can not even begin to understand what my Grandma and Dad are going through. Tomorrow is going to be, putting it mildly, a VERY rough and trying day for my family.

When I think of my Uncle Pat, he reminds me of a real life Santa Claus. He is always so happy and full of life, a right Jolly Old Elf. His smile and laugh can literally take your breath away and make you instantly happy. He never says a harsh word to you, and he never judges you. And he just has this way of making you feel better, even when you didn't know anything was wrong in the first place. I will miss him SO MUCH and the thought of never seeing him again makes my heart break. So I'm going to stop writing now because the tears have started. I love you so much Uncle Pat, and I hope to someday see you again. I will miss your smiling face, your infectious laugh and your engulfing bear hugs.

No NFL this Fall?

For those of you who don't know, I am a HUGE Football fan. Mostly NFL. I have never really gotten into College football. Well that might change this fall. The NFL today confirmed a lockout of ALL players. I understand why the players are upset, but this may have ramifications for years to come. If the players miss 1 season, their contracts may become null and void. That would shake up the roster for the coming years. I really hope they are able to settle this matter before Pre-Season starts in August. I can't even imagine what it would be like not watching football this fall. I grew up with watching football every Sunday. It sounds silly, but I would feel empty without it.

I hate funerals. I don't want one when I die. I hate all the sadness, and the emptiness. I wish there was a way to celebrate life without it seeming so depressing. I just hope Jon's Mom and her family will find peace and comfort one day. I will miss Nadine's smile the most.

I HATE February

I have never really liked the month of February. Mostly because it seems to be so dreary and dull. And also because you feel can Spring right around the corner. I especially hated this last February because we had some sort of sickness in our house every week of that dumb month.

Owen started with RSV the first week, then ended up getting an ear infection on top of that. I got a cold. Jon got a respiratory/sinus infection, and Aiden got a cold/stomach bug. I was hoping that March would be better. But yesterday, Aiden got strep throat.

I feel so frustrated some days with all this sickness! But at least none of it is life threatening. For that I am grateful. So today I have been cleaning, and sanitizing, and washing everything you can imagine. I really hope it helps, and we can finally get rid of the sickness that seems to be hanging over us.

I can't even begin to explain how EXCITED I am for Spring and Summer. I LOVE the month of March. Mainly because of my Birthday. But I am MORE excited for the 24th because Jon and I are going to Seattle, WA for 5 days. WITHOUT children. We have never taken that long of a vacation without our boys. So I am feeling a mix of excitement and being nervous. My wonderful Mom is coming to stay at our house with the boys. So that makes me feel better that they'll be here. So hopefully at the end of the month I will have a bunch of pictures to post.

Crazy, but absolutely fantastic! I LOVE that it is Summer. I LOVE the warm weather, and the swimming, and tank tops, flip flops, parades, fireworks, snow cones, and ice cream trucks! And especially I love that Jon and Aiden are out of school. It has been so AWESOME to have them home. And now that I am only working 3 days a week I can spend even more time with them.
The next month is going to be so much fun! In 10 days I am going with some friends to the midnight release of Eclipse! Then turning around the next morning and seeing it again. I know, I am crazy! Then comes the 4th of July which is one of my favorite Holidays. We are also going to Lagoon in July. Then camping, and hopefully more trips to the aquatic center! So as you can tell, we have one jam packed, fun filled summer planned! Yay!

3 Years Old

Well, Owen is 3! 3 years ago yesterday, he came into ours lives with a bang! I never thought I would have to go through what we went through. But I am so VERY VERY GLAD we did. And that he survived. No words can express how grateful I am to Primary Childrens. And to the nurses at Davis Hospital.

These pics are not in order, I apologize. So from bottom to top. Bottom picture is right after I had Owen. Notice how blue his skin is? Well we didn't and luckily my nurse noticed and rushed him to ICU to figure out what was wrong.

2nd photo from bottom is after Primary Childrens received him via Life Flight and got him settled. Then the next photo is right after his surgery. That life jacket looking thing is exactly that. After his surgery, his heart was too swollen so they couldn't close his chest. So under that jacket and gauze is his heart. It took 2 days for the swelling to go down enough for the surgeon to close him up. Jon got to be there for that part. He saw Owen's heart exposed in his chest. Jon says that is probably the coolest thing he has ever seen. His own sons heart, beating.

Then the top photo was taken about a week after his surgery and just a few days before we took him home.

Thank you Owen for surving. Thank you for being strong enough to stay here with us. Our lives would been incomplete without you. You make me smile EVERYDAY. And I love that you tell me that you love me. I hope you never stop saying that. Because I will never stop telling you. You have made our family stronger and we will never take for granted our life with you and your brother. hApPy bIrThDaY buddy! I love you.

1/2 Marathon

On Saturday I ran in the Ogden 1/2 Marathon. This was my 2nd time running it, and my worst time to boot. I forgot my knee brace, so around mile 3 my knee gave out and I had to basically limp/run the rest of the 10 miles. So I was pretty frustrated to say the least. But there is always next time, right? These photos were taken by my in-laws, who were so awesome and brought my boys to see me cross the finish line! My dad also came to see me, which was AWESOME because he missed it last year. But my mom missed seeing me finish because it took her forever to find a parking spot. But I was just glad she came anyway. Later I will post the porfessional photos taken along the course when the marathon website posts them. Thank you everyone for your support. And wish me luck, because in October I am running another 1/2 marathon. I hope to do a lot better, and I hope to remember my knee brace next time!

Aiden's 6th Birthday!

Today our son turned 6. I can't believe how fast time goes. He started off his day by opening 1 present, Lego Batman. Which he and his Daddy played while I cooked his special Birthday breakfast. He wanted pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs. Then in the afternoon we took him and a few friends bowling. Then just the 4 of us went out to dinner. Aiden chose Olive Garden, which I was completely fine with! Then we went back to our house and had some friends and family come over for presents and cake and ice cream. He had an AWESOME day and loved all his gifts. THANK YOU to everyone who came and made his day so special.

I have successfully made it 2 weeks without going to the store! But alas, I am afraid I will not make the whole month. We are almost out of eggs, milk, and bread. So I must stock up on those again. But I am proud of myself that I stretched it out for 2 weeks. Maybe this time I will see if I can go 3 weeks. I feel good because I improved somewhat and learned a couple new recipes in the process!

Pantry Spring Cleaning

I have decided to clean out my food pantry. I am going to (try) to feed my family on the food in my pantry for 1 month. I am sick of going to the store every week so I'm willing to give anything a try. I went to the store today and stocked up on our essentials, like bread, meats, cheese, yogurt and milk. My 30th Birthday

Last week I turned (gasp) 30! I don't feel any different than I did when I was 29. But now I can say that I have made it to my 3rd decade! my birthday felt like a week long celebration. Which I did not complain about in the least! The Friday before my bday I went to have my tattoo touched up. After that Jon, and my good friend Aprill, and I went to Z'Tejas (in the Gateway, and it's absolutely fabulous food) then went and saw Alice in Wonderland. On the day of my birthday Jon cooked me my favorite meal. His famous lasagna. And he and the boys surprised me with an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins. Then to close out the celebration the following Friday, we had a party with our friends. We played games, sang our hearts out at Rock Band and had some yummy food! Then at 1am Lois and I ran out and grabbed our copies of New Moon! It was a really awesome night! I just want to say thanks to all my friends and family who made my birthday so special! Here's to the next 10 years!

SALT LAKE CITY — One day, when Owen Magness was 9 months old, he fell so ill he could barely breathe in enough air to fill his tiny lungs. Normally a vibrant child, he appeared lethargic. Worried, his mother, Andrea, took him to the hospital, where he spent three days for treatment of a respiratory infection known as RSV.

Last week, when the 2-year-old had a high fever and a bad cough, his mom took him back to the hospital.

"It's just not worth taking the risk," Andrea Magness said of respiratory syncytial virus. "The rapid culture test they took was negative, but the doctor said he had all the symptoms, so they wanted to be sure."

Each winter, local hospitals and clinics see a rise in the number of kids coming to emergency rooms with highly contagious symptoms of RSV. This year is no different. In fact, at Primary Children's Medical Center, there are so many kids with RSV, nurses are having to readjust their schedules to meet the needs of incoming patients.

"We're right in the middle of the usual peak we see every winter," said Dr. Hilary Hewes, a fellow in the pediatric emergency room at Primary Children's Medical Center. "But there has been a high prevalence around the valley."

Each year in the United States, 75,000 to 125,000 kids under a year old are hospitalized due to RSV infection. Almost all children are infected with the virus by their second birthday, but only a small percentage develop worse symptoms, resulting in pneumonia and other lung diseases, and potentially, death.

Although RSV is not a reportable disease in Utah, Primary Children's has tracked the number of cases it has witnessed this year, resulting in a peak in late December, but another big surge happening late last week. Hewes said 188 kids visited the ER with RSV-like symptoms in the past week, some of them being admitted. However, 90 to 95 percent of kids are fine, she said.

Symptoms can run the gamut of regular cold symptoms, but even those symptoms can make breathing difficult for little lungs and immature immune systems.

"Older kids bring it home to their younger siblings, and it just gets passed around," Hewes said.

Difficulty breathing is the most severe of potential symptoms in RSV, but a cough, sneeze, runny nose and fever might also accompany it, as well as a decreased appetite. Premature infants, children less than 2 years of age with congenital heart or chronic lung disease and children with compromised immune systems due to a medical condition or medical treatment are at highest risk for severe disease. Adults with weakened immune systems and those 65 and older are also at increased risk of severe disease.

RSV infections are widespread from November to April, and the virus can be spread through airborne particles from uncovered sneezes and coughs. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, infection can also result from direct and indirect contact with nasal or oral secretions from infected persons. To prevent the spread of RSV, the agency recommends having children cover their mouths, wash their hands frequently and correctly (with soap and water for 15 to 20 seconds), avoid sharing cups and eating utensils, and refrain from kissing.

"You do the best you can do to keep them away from other kids when they're sick, but they're kids, so they're going to be around other kids," Magness said. She just tries to doctor her son's symptoms and help him to feel better as quickly as possible.

Yes. I said it. I'm turning 30 next month! And I've decided that I am proud of it! I am better looking now, in better shape and healthier and happier than I was when I was teen. Why are people so afraid to grow up? I used to think (and was told many times) that High School was and is the best time of your life. Ya right! I was just a stupid naive kid. I am living in the best time of my life right now. So I say bring it on!

People in my life has always been my Aunt. She was the first person to show me how to shave my legs. She also taught me how to properly (and loudly) belch! When I was younger I spent every couple weeks of my summer, up until I turned 15, with her and my cousins. They are some of my most special memories. She and I have always understood one another. Growing up, my Grandma used to say "You're just like your Aunt". And I always took it as a compliment. This Monday marks a BIG birthday for her. I won't say exactly what bday (I want to live). But I wanted to post this, because she lives in Missouri. And I won't get to see her on her special day. So to her, I say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

10 Years

I'm not quite sure what made me think of this. But 10 years ago in the month of January I met these wonderful people. I had no idea back then that these people would be some of my greatest friends, and 1 would end up being my husband. After high school I made some bad decisions (which I will not go into), but those decisions led me north, to live with my dad. At the time I was so scared and nervous. I had no friends and I wasn't all that close with my family. But I owe EVERYTHING to my family, and my brother Brandon. He introduced me to all these people, and to Jon, and I will always be thankful for that. He and I were not so close growing up, but moving up here, changed that, and we became good friends. I just wanted to say I am so grateful to have such amazing friends and family in my life! Without both I would not be where I am today. I love you all!

So I realize it's been a while since I actually posted about how we all are. And also about Christmas!

To start off, both Jon and Aiden have successfully finished their 1st semester of school! I am so proud of both my boys. Jon is surpassing even my expectations with how well he is doing! I mean I knew he would do fantastic, but he has also been nominated for President of the whole Pharmacy school! Elections are this month, so you can imagine how busy he is. He is also helping to plan a Gala for the school, that is in February. So until the end of February we won't be seeing much of him. I know I say this often, but I am soooooo happy for Jon. He is finally living his long life dream! Some people never get the chance to live out their dream, and I am so thankful that his time has come!

Now on to Christmas! We had an awesome one this year. And it's surprising because we toned it down with the gifts this year. Aiden's big gift "from santa" was a Nintendo DS. He was/is so stoked about it! He also got pj's, hats, and some books. As well as games to go with his DS. Owen's big gift was a Geo Trax train track set. Which to this day he has not stopped playing with it! Santa did a good job. Owen also got pj's, hats, and some books. Now Jon and I had an agreement that all we were going to get each other was stocking stuffers. So imagine my surprise when I have a gift under the tree, that ends up being a Kindle! I was so excited, and leave it to Jon to get the upper hand! All he ended up with were some hats, scarves, and pj's. Lame!
Christmas was also different this year, because usually we go down to SLC to my Uncle's Christmas breakfast, but it's getting hard to get down there. So Jon and I decided to have breakfast at our house, with my dad's family. It was so nice not to have to go anywhere. We all stayed in our pj's the whole day! But I was upset to find that EVERYONE else from my mom's side was at my Uncle's breakfast. Cousins I haven't seen forvever, and even my own 1/2 brother's who I haven't seen in over a year were there. So that was a big disappointment, but my boys were ecstatic not to leave. So they could play with all their stuff.

We had a nice break with Jon off school ,and it was awesome to spend time with him. But now both Aiden and Jon have gone back to school, so it's back to my daily grind. Owen is back in Preschool, and he is having a hard time. He has been really clingy lately, and with Jon being home for 3 weeks, I think he got used to being home. So going back to Preschool/Daycare was not his favorite idea. He has also hit the Terrible 3 stage in his development. Which I am absolutely thrilled about! (Can you sense the sarcasm?)

We are all now just getting over having colds. Owen's of course turned into croup. But with his asthma, he doesn't get just a cold. And he is taking the longest to recover, as usual. But at least we are on the upper side of recovery now. We also have a new addition in our house. A new kitty, her name is Ellie. We are so happy to have a kitty in the house again. Now we just have to teach Owen the meaning of "being soft" with her.

Well I guess that's enough for now. I'm sure there are things I forgot to mention, but if I remember I will save that for the next post.

New Camera

We decided to get another pocket camera. I still have (and use) my Canon, but I needed something I could fit in my purse and take with me. I actually found a good deal on one! Usually Jon is the one that finds everything like that. So we now have a Polaroid 10MP camera. The best part, for me, is it's red! It's also got a really big touch screen, that hopefully won't cause too many problems. I've only taken a couple pics with it so far, I'm still getting it figured out. I was just about to post those couple pics, but apparently I need to figure out how to plug in the usb cord to the computer first. So, sorry, pics will have to come later. As well as updates, with us and Jon's school.

Our New Addition

This is Ellie. Our new kitty. At first we called him Eddie. We were told by the lady who gave her to us, that it was a boy. Um, ya, no. So Eddie is now Ellie. We love her, and it is a comfort to have a kitty in the house again.

A BIG Day for Our Boys

This is the 1st book, Aiden read to us! I can't believe how fast he is learning, it is amazing! I had to help with a couple of the longer words. But he was able to sound most of them out on his own. I am so proud of him. And also, Owen learned how to do a perfect somersault! He was so excited about it!!!

The Polar Express

For Christmas, my wonderful MIL bought us tickets on the Polar Express train. Also known as the Heber Creeper. Jon and I didn't say a word to the boys about it. So when we showed up at the train station, imagine their shock! Owen especially, because he is a train addict. Anyway, we had 1st class tickets, so we were in the 1st car hooked to the engine. Which, btw, is the only running steam engine in the United States. We got seated, then the fun began! Mrs. Claus showed up and gave all the moms and grandmas her "secret" cookie recipe. Then we were served chocolate chip cookies, and hot chocolate. We got to keep the mugs the hot chocolate came in. Then the conductor came by and punched our special Polar Express tickets. Then they had an announcer guy, who read the Polar Express book to all of us. Once we reached "The North Pole" Santa appeared! The boys were so excited! Santa gave each of us, a bell from his sleigh. On our way back to the station we all sang Christmas carols. It was so much fun, and I think that will become a family tradition for us.

Dear Honey,
I just wanted to say how excited the boys and I are to have you to ourselves this Christmas break. You have been working so hard, and I am glad to see you have a break. I am so happy that you are finally living your dream, and that you are loving every second! This is what you were meant to do, and I feel so lucky to be able to share my life and love with you. I know you will want to relax, and you will, but just remember our boys will probably be climbing all over while you try. :) They are so excited to spend time with their daddy. Especially Aiden, it seems like that's all he talks about lately.
I also wanted to say good luck this week, with finals. I know we won't see you much, and that's ok. I just want you to know, that we love and support you. And we can't wait to start this holiday break! Hopefully you can handle 3 weeks with us!!!!!

With all this snow, I remembered that I never posted about Owens first time sledding. We took him and Aiden last year with my brother, his wife, and my 2 nephews. It was so fun. I was worried Owen might be afraid, but like his older brother, he has no fear! Aiden wanted to go by himself (head first) of course. Hopefully we get the chance to go again this winter. It is by far our favorite holiday sport!

I guess its the Holidays, but lately I've been feeling sentimental. Especially about my boys. They seem to be grower faster than I expected, and I love it. But it makes me sad.
So here is another picture of Aiden. I took this for 2 reasons. 1- because his umbilical cord had just fallen off, and 2- because he is already sucking his thumb. At 6 weeks old. That is a habit we are STILL trying to break. He doesn't do it much, just when he's tired.

Red Ribbon Week

Last week was Red Ribbon Week at Aiden's school. I was planning on taking pictures of all 5 days, but I forgot 3 of 5 days. Monday he got to wear a tie, Tuesday was pajama day, Wednesday was red shirt day, Thursday was crazy hair day, and Friday was team jersey day. I only took pics on Monday and Tuesday. He had a lot of fun, and hopefully he learned to "Say No to Drugs"!

Open House

Camping

This weekend the boys and I went camping with my bf Lois, and her 2 kids. It was the first time I had been camping without Jon or family. To tell you the truth I was a bit scared. We went to Quail Creek reservoir in Hurricane, Ut. When we got there I realized I didn't know how to put up our canvas tent. Lois had no idea either! Thankfully she is great at figuring things out, so after 2 hours we had the tent successfully put together! The first night I didn't sleep at all. Between being sandwiched by 2 boys, and the howling wind, and thoughts of mass murderers/rapists, and my truck being broken into, it wasn't the best night. The 2nd day was by far much better. We spent the entire day on the beach of the reservoir. The kids played and played and played! We all got a nice sunburn, even though I applied spf 50 like 2 times! In the end it was a great trip and I am so glad that I did it. It made me believe in myself, and I know that I can put up a tent and make a fire all by myself! The boys and I missed Jon a lot, but we needed to get away. And again I'm glad we did! Thanks to Lois, for being so resourceful, and as we put it.....the guy on the trip!

Aiden's First and Second Day of School

Last week was Aiden's first (unofficial) day of Kindergarten. He went last Monday and only for 2 hours. It was mainly just to see where everything was in his classroom, and get acquainted with his teacher. The picture of him in the gray shirt was his outfit. Today was his first (official) day of Kindergarten. He got to ride the bus! I was so nervous, I didn't sleep well last night.

This is him, with his arms folded, waiting for the bus. And of his outfit, he looks so cute in polo's! So he's off to Kindergarten! I took today off work, so I could be home his first day off the bus. I really hope he has a great first day!

White Coat Ceremony

Friday, was The White Coat Ceremony, for the Pharmacy Class of 2013. The ceremony is basically where the Dean (in this case, the Associate Dean) of the Pharmacy School, welcomes the students. They pledge the "Pharmacy Oath". Then they are given their White Coats. Which has engraved on them their name on one side and "University of Utah School of Pharmacy" on the other side. It was really awesome! After the ceremony there was a little BBQ, where I got to meet some other students and their families. I am so proud of Jon! He is now official, with his Lab Coat and all!

The Big Day part 2

And also tomorrow is the BIG day for Jon as well. Tomorrow is the first day of the next 4 years of his life! He starts his Graduate program for his PharmD! I still can't believe its finally here! He has been working for this for almost 10 years! I am so unbelievably proud of my husband. He is the most remarkable man. And I am so thankful that he never gave up on his dream. I know he is sad because he may miss out on a lot going on at home, but Honey, please know that we will think of you everyday. And we love you. And we are so grateful that you are sacrificing so much for what will be in the end, much better for our family. So everyone, wish him, and Aiden, good luck!

The Big Day

So tomorrow is the BIG day for Aiden. He starts Kindergarten at Lakeside Elementary. I am so excited for him! But also so nervous! I haven't had a good night sleep for awhile, because I keep having nightmares that he gets kidnapped or lost, or doesn't get on the right bus. I'm hoping all these things are normal and I'm not overreacting. But how do you become ok with sending your child away to school. Where for the first time you have no control over what he sees and hears. Not saying that I am super controlling, but I at least know who he plays with, what he watches, and what kind of language he uses. I guess ultimately it comes down to trust. Trust that Jon and I have done the best to teach him how to act. And trust that he will make the right decisions. You're all probably thinking, geez its only Kindergarten. But to me, its a whole new world for Aiden. So its a BIG deal! I will be taking a photo of him tomorrow with his first day of school outfit and backpack. So I will post how his first day went tomorrow.

The Boy's First Sleepover

I thought this was so rare, and cute. So I wanted to blog about it. This was Aiden and Owen's first sleepover together. Aiden said he wanted to sleep in Owen's room and have a sleepover. I was worried that they would keep each other up late. But I finally gave in, and this was the sleeping arrangements. You can't see Owen, but he's in his bed. They slept through the night, and had fun together (which is rare).

Best Dam Bike Tour

This last weekend Jon rode in the MS150. Usually he rides 150 miles over 2 days. But because of his hectic schedule he did not get to ride a lot before the race. So he decided to ride 80 miles over the 2 days instead. Which I think is still really amazing! He raised over $600 for the cause, which is AWESOME! Way to go honey! I'm so proud of you!

A Few "Firsts" This Week

Aiden had to have his first cavity filled on Thursday. I was so worried how he would handle it. But my fear was for nothing! Because our Dentist is so AWESOME Aiden didn't even realize what was going on. He did so well! The dentist let him pick 4 prizes from their prize area. Then I took him to the store where he got to chose a toy. He said he wanted a movie instead, so he picked Bob the Builder. Way to go Aiden! You were so brave!

Second, we moved Owen out of his crib into a big boy bed. Last night was his first night sleeping in it. It did not go very well. But I don't think it ever does the first night. He woke up at 3am and didn't go back to sleep til 5am, then he woke up at 6:30am for good. I am exhausted! Hopefully tonight will be better, but we'll see. Now that he is in a big bed, we can redecorate his room. His crib was zoo animals, but we are changing it to Thomas the Train.

So last week we went camping at Panguitch Lake. My awesome parents rented us this cabin, so we didn't have to tent it! The weather was not the best, but we got 1 good day so we were able to go fishing.

Here are a couple of pictures of the first time Jon got to hold our boys. Who would of thought that Jon would have wanted kids? Let alone 2! I am amazed at the love Jon has for his boys. He is their best friend. The boys have so much fun with their daddy. There favorite activities together are riding bikes, playing basketball, and anything having to do with the outdoors. I just wanted to say Happy Fathers Day to Jon. He is the love of my life, and I am so grateful that he is the father of my children. I couldn't have asked for a better man to raise these boys. He has so much patient, wisdom, and guidance to offer. I don't doubt my boys will grow up to great men, because of their father. Happy Fathers Day, babe! I LOVE YOU!

....has been going on lately. So I haven't had anything to blog about. We just got back from camping on Wednesday, so I'll post some pics of that later. I am so excited that summer is here though. For the next few weeks we will be pretty busy. But all of it is so fun, that I don't mind. First this next weekend Jon is riding in the MS150. For anyone of you who don't know what that is, it is a bike ride consisting of 150 miles ridden in 2 days. It is a donation race to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis (anyone wanting to donate please contact Jon). The boys and I will be driving up to Logan next weekend to watch Jon cross the finish line. We also get to go swimming at the Logan aquatic center for free. Also next week Transformers come out, which we are going to see with our friends Rachael and Chris. Then July will come, and with that obviously is the 4th. I love the 4th of July. I LOVE parades, and fireworks. Then we have Lagoon day sponsored by Harmons. And this year will be the first year that Aiden can ride the big rides! Jon is so excited to take him! Then Harry Potter: The Half Blood Prince comes out, and me and my friend Carrie are going to the midnight show of that. Then finally Jon and I will be spending a weekend in Park City. Sort of our last get away before he starts school. So I am sure I will have tons to post about in the coming month.
As for the boys not much has changed there either. Owen is totally a 2 year old! And totally driving me mad! Overnight he went from calm and easygoing to throwing tantrums 24/7, throwing things, and being very opinionated! What the heck happened? Then there's Aiden. I have never seen a kid who loved summer more. He is out playing with his friends ALL day. He only comes in to go to the bathroom (I hope), and eat and drink. I rarely see him on my days off, cause he is always playing with his friends. Well thats all for now. Talk to ya soon.

1/2 Marathon

So I realized I hadn't posted anything on my first 1/2 marathon. There are other photos of me running the course, but I'd have to buy them, and I didnt want to. But I had such a blast! I will definitely be running 1/2 marathon's again. I ran this one in 2:38:56. It was a lot better than I thought I would do. My mom was so proud, as you can tell from the photo below. I ran it with my good friend Wendy, from work. She was amazing too! She makes a great running partner, and I hope we can continue to run together in the future. As I crossed the finish line I had Jon, my mom, my mil, Aiden, and Owen waiting for me. It was awesome to have them there to support me. Thanks guys! I am thinking about running another 1/2 marathon the end of August, but have not yet decided. I injured my knee pretty good after the Ogden 1/2, and I haven't been running on it since. I think I've been scared to, cause I don't want to hurt it again. But I love running, its a great passion for me, and relieves a lot of stress, so I'm sure I'll be back to it soon......if this weather ever improves.

New news

Just a few developments, I thought I would share.

First: Owen has been diagnosed with Asthma. We have thought for sometime that he had it. But the Doctor had said that it is hard to diagnose under the age of 2. But at Owen's 2 year checkup the Doctor confirmed it. We have started him on Flovent, and so far he has had a major improvement! He is able to run and play without having to stop and cough! Its the first time in his 2 years of life that he has gone more than a few hours without coughing! Yay!

Second: We have decided NOT to send Aiden to the Davis Prep Academy. I was excited at first about him going, but after a few days, I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach (intuition, I guess). Jon and I talked and talked and finally decided to have him go to Lakeside elementary instead. Aiden is ecstatic! He is so excited to go to school with his neighborhood friends, and to be able to ride the bus! I feel a lot better with our decision, and I know that Aiden will thrive no matter what!

Third: You will all think I am a dork, but the official New Moon trailer will be available to watch online anytime after 10:45pm on Sunday May 31st! Or for any of you that have cable (I do not), you can catch the trailer on the MTV Movie awards Sunday May 31st.

Owen is 2!!!

It has been an amazing 2 years! Look at the difference in these 2 photos! Our little man has gone through a lot in his first 2 years. Obviously starting with his heart surgery. Then RSV, then countless ear infections, then tubes in his ears. And he has had a never ending cough since he was born. Lets hope things settle down a bit now!

So we started out the birthday bash with a trip to the zoo. Owen had so much fun. The giraffes were by far his favorite. And of course the train, but duh, that's a give in with Owen. There is nothing he loves more than trains. Real trains, toy trains, trains on t.v. It doesn't matter, he loves them all! Owen is a very easy going toddler. So different than Aiden. Sometimes I can't believe how different their personalties are. But I'm glad, because they are unique. Owen is still cuddly, which I love. He still has to have his bottle, which I don't love. He is a very picky eater, and a picky dresser as well. He always has to pick his t-shirt in the morning, or he throws a tantrum. He also gets into EVERYTHING. And I mean, everything! We used to just shut all the doors, but now he knows how to open them! We are in trouble!

We are so grateful to Owen in our lives. It took a lot to keep him here, and we are so thankful to everyone at PCMC, Davis Hospital, and our family and friends, who helped us through those first few weeks. And who are still helping. We love you guys! Happy Birthday Owen! We love you!

Update on Things

So I haven't posted any pics for awhile because Jon has been in the process of building a new computer. But it is up and running now, and I should have some new pictures to post soon. But here's an update on whats been going on with us.

Jon has moved up in the Pharmacy world and is now an Intern. What that means is he is now able to perform all duties of a Pharmacist, with the expection of doing the final check on all prescriptions. That doesn't happen til he is a 4th year intern. But it is a very exciting step for him. He now gets to wear a blue smock at Harmons instead of white. I am so proud of him and all that he has accomplished so far. Jon has also been working 3 jobs. He still works for Harmons in Roy, and now in Ogden. And also works for Target once a week. He has been working so hard. Again I am so proud of him. I love you babe!

Aiden as you know turned 5 recently and is so happy to be starting kindergarten in the fall. We just found out yesterday that he has been accepted into the North Davis Prep Academy. It is a charter school in Layton. We are very happy that he got in, because we believe that it will be a great opportunity for him. The class sizes are smaller, spanish is part of the curriculum, and they have to wear uniforms. And the best part is, that its free! All I have to do is volunteer some of my time to help out at the school. I am so excited!

Owen is about to turn 2 in a couple of weeks, and is fully showing his toddler age. He is very opioniated and won't let me sit down for second, unless its to play trains with him. He is OBSESSED with trains. I have never seen anyone who likes them more, besides my father-in-law. He loves playing outside, and he loves to eat. He's a very picky eater, but if it has carbs or dairy in it, he'll eat it! He is my little Bubba.

As for me, I am running my first 1/2 marathon on Saturday. I am SO nervous! Besides training for that, I am still working full-time. And spend all my free time playing with my family or reading books. Well thats it folks. There's your update. I will be working on posting some new pictures soon. Ta Ta for now.

Baby Clothes

Aiden is 5

Here is Aiden today, all geared up and ready to try out his new skate board. How do they go from cute and cuddly to tough and resilient? Aiden has always amazed us with his strength. He never lets anything get in his way. He is one of the toughest kids I know. He'll hurt himself, but as long as its not bleeding, its all good. And he'll just keep on playing.

We started out today by eating homemade waffles. That was Aiden's request for his Birthday breakfast. Then we got ready for his party. It was originally supposed to be at a park. But with the crappy weather, we moved it to our house. The kids (which by the way there were 14!) started by eating pizza, playing pin the tail on the donkey, then hitting a pinata. Next came presents, then cake n ice cream. It was a very busy day, but Aiden had a blast all day long. Then after everyone had left and he and Daddy played with all his toys, we went to Chili's for dinner. Yummy!

I have had a really hard time this week, thinking that he was going to turn 5. To me it is a big step in childhood. Soon he will start Kindergarten and have this whole life separate from me. And it scares me. But obviously there is not much I can do about, so I'll get over it. I hope.

His name has brought fear to many in the grocery business. But to me he's just Dad. I realized I don't have many current pictures of my father, so I took this one on Easter. He was not to thrilled, but I like it. My dad may look like a stern man, but he is in fact a very loving guy. His grandchildren love him to death, and he adores them just as much. Easter!!!

Here are the boys' loot from the Easter bunny. Owen got a new Thomas the Train and other little toys. Aiden got Fire Swamp from Ben 10, and some Iron Man pencils and tattoos. Aiden woke up Easter morning and very sneaky like, ran downstairs and went through his basket before Jon and I even woke up. Little terd! Then Aiden had us hide and re-hide the eggs 3 times before Owen even woke up. Then later in the afternoon we went to my parents house for an Easter hunt and dinner.

Here are our 2 boys along with my 2 nephews, after the egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa's. Owen didn't really know or care about the egg hunt. So when Aiden's basket was full, he took Owen's and started filling his up. It was a lot of fun for everyone.

My Birthday

My bday was a few weeks ago and I turned 29. I know, gasp. Anyway it was kind of like a week long celebration, which I was totally fine with. The Saturday before my bday my friends came over and we ate pizza and played games. My friend Aprill got me these flowers. Then Monday my actual bday, my awesome co-workers got me a gift card to Striders! Then J.J. one of my pharmacists made me Better than Sex Cake, it was delicious! Then to my surprise later that day Jon shows up at my work with these books and an Ice Cream Cake. It was awesome!! My mom-in-law got me a gift card to Old Navy, which was much needed! Then the Saturday after my bday, Twilight came out on DVD. So my bf Lois and I had a sleepover at her house and watched the movie and painted our toenails, and ate a ton of junk. It was a great week, thank you to everyone who made it so special!

Here is Aiden before his first soccer game. He plays for the Clinton City Wildcats. It was really fun to watch him play. I don't think all the kids know what is going on during the game. But it was a lot of fun. Aiden was upset after the game though because he came close to scoring a goal, but missed. I think he is going to be really competitive as he gets older.

Train Museum

Owen was in hog heaven. He was so excited, he would scream every time he saw a new train. There were senior citizens covering their ears, because he was so loud. I found it very cute and entertaining.

I have many other things to post, i.e. my birthday, more San Diego photos, etc. Life has been chaotic, but I will get to posting more hopefully very soon. Ta ta for now! Yay!!!!!

Seaworld

So I took a lot of pictures of Seaworld. Especially of Shamu, which was my favorite part. But I chose just a few to post. The first 2 were taken at the fresh water aquariums, and I just love them because of how colorful they are.

This is of course Shamu, performing at the Shamu show called "Believe". It seriously brought tears to my eyes, it was breathtaking! The relationship those trainers have the whales is amazing. That would be my dream job! I loved it! If I lived in San Diego I would see that show everyday!

San Diego Zoo

The first photo is of my boys as we were riding the skyride over the zoo. They rode it twice, I barely made it once. I got a little nauseated.

The next photo is Birds of Paradise, Jon's favorite flower.

My favorite part of the zoo was the polar bears. The glass tank was so awesome because you can get so close. This bear was showing off by doing some swimming acrobatics.

And of course my sweet boys, this was taken right before the zoo opened.

Samford University

Jon has been accepted into Samford University!!! Which is in Birmingham, Alabama. He has 3 weeks to accept the offer, so if we don't hear back from the U by then, it looks like we will be moving! I am so proud of Jon for never giving up his dream! It has been a long long road but he has finally made it! I am actually excited about the possibility of moving. Somewhere new and fresh, and also for selfish reasons because I wouldn't be working. :) It would be an adventure that's for sure. I will let you know if anything else comes up. Ta Ta for now.

We're Back!

I have a lot of pics to blog but I wanted to post one of my favorite landscape photos. This is of the Pacific Ocean. Isn't it amazing? It totally puts things into perspective when you see that massive ocean going on and on forever. And to top it off, my wonderful Husband who has incredible eyesight, caught sight of a pack of dolphins (pics to come). It was so awesome! I'm sooooooo tired so I will blog more this weekend but we had a nice time, except for Aiden acting like a terrible two again most of the trip. But we dealt and made it home alive. I wish I could post all the photos, but I don't think ya'll want to see 435 pictures, so I will just post my favorites later. Good night!

Things went very well for Jon in Alabama. If he doesn't get into to the U, its looks like we may be moving to Birmingham. We will know for sure a week from friday. His interview at the U of U is tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes. I'll keep ya posted......

Update.. February 26, 2009:

Jon had his interview at the U of U yesterday. He felt it went really well, better than Alabama he said! Unfortunately it looks like it will take a couple weeks to find out if he made it in or not. So now we just get to wait, Yay! As usual as soon as he finds anything out, we'll let ya know. We are off to San Diego on Saturday so this will be my last post for a little while. Third 'Twilight' film release date, director revealed

A reported release date for "Eclipse," the third film in the "Twilight" saga, has been revealed, in addition to new buzz about the sequel's director.
A source at Summit Entertainment tells MTV that "Eclipse" will arrive in theaters on June 30, 2010.
Meanwhile, a source close to the production tells Entertainment Weekly that "New Moon" director Chris Weitz will not helm the third film because he'll still be wrapping work on "New Moon" when shooting on "Eclipse" begins.
"New Moon" rises in theaters on Nov. 20, 2009.

Aiden's New Hangout

Lately Aiden has been into building forts. But his new favorite place is his "brick house". Or so he calls it. Usually he puts a pillow in front of him so you can't even see him, but today I guess he was feeling a little more social. He'll read books or color or like in this pic, play his leapster, all in his "brick house".

I came home yesterday and found a dozen of these in my kitchen. I asked Jon what they were for and he said "Just Cause". I love him. But wait it gets better, my mom was up from salt lake watching our boys and he got her a dozen too. Isn't he the best? I just love him!!!

Valentines Day

This is the first year we have gotten presents for the boys on V-day. It turned out to be a lot of fun and they were really excited. We got them each a kite, a bottle of bubbles, and 1 book. The bubbles were by far there favorite. Aiden got a Dr. Seuss book about space, and an Iron Man kite. Owen got a Thomas the Train book, and a Buzz Lightyear kite. Aiden can't wait for spring now so he can fly his kite.

Another Interview!

Jon just heard from Samford Univ which is in Birmingham, Alabama. He was invited for an interview there also! He can't call back til Monday to schedule it, but it will hopefully be on the 23rd of February. Wow, next week will be hectic! We are so excited that we actually have options. What will come next?
